General Guidelines and Table of Fees for 2021
1. GENERAL GUIDELINES:
Walvis Bay Private High School is registered in terms of the Companies Act, 1973, as an Incorporated Association Not for Gain and, in terms of the Education Act 2001, as a PRIVATE school with subsidy.
A. ADMISSION TO THE SCHOOL:
Written application for enrolment of a child is to be addressed to The Principal, Walvis Bay Private High School, P.O. Box 567, Walvis Bay.
This application does not guarantee placement in the school, nor does the date of application indicate any specific order of priority.
Collateral information will be obtained from previous schools in order to determine the learner’s general behavior and academic achievements.
The applicant and his/her parents may be interviewed.
New applicants must undergo a language and mathematics evaluation test.
Please NOTE that one month written notice is required when a learner leaves school. If notice is not received parents will be held liable for school fees for the subsequent month/s.
As there is a high demand for places at Walvis Bay Private High School, each learner needs to re-apply for admission each year. (September)
A yearly book and subject fee is payable in order to confirm your place for the next academic year. (October)
2. FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS:
A. ANNUAL BOOK FEES:
A non-refundable book fee is payable annually upon acceptance of placement.

B. SUPPLEMENTARY AND CHOICE SUBJECT FEE:
Primary Phase Grade 1 – 7 Compulsory Supplementary Subject fee is payable upon acceptance.
⦁ A yearly fee of N$550.00 per year is payable with application/re-application acceptance for ICT
(Grade 1 - 7)
Secondary Phase (Grade 8 – 12) choice subject fee is payable after subject discussion (Grade 8 & Grade 10). Learners will only be considered for enrollment for a supplementary subject if the fee is paid in full.
⦁ A yearly fee of N$850.00 per year is payable for Office Practice (Grade 8 – 12)
⦁ A yearly fee of N$410.00 per year is payable for Design and Technology (Grade 8 – 12)
⦁ A once off fee of N$850.00 is payable for the purchase of the Compulsory Design and Technology
drawing set (New and Grade 8 learners)
⦁ Yearly subscription fee for ICT (Information and Communication Technology) program
⦁ Maintenance, replacement and upgrade of equipment
⦁ Classroom furniture and teacher resources
⦁ Any and all materials for classroom projects
C. SCHOOL FEES:
School fees are set by the Board of Directors and reviewed on an annual basis (November) after the school budget requirements have been determined. School fees is payable monthly IN ADVANCE for 12 months (Grade R – 11), and 10 months (Grade 12 learners).

N$1 850.00 per month x 12 months = N$22 200.00 per year
Annual (5% discount allowed) = N$21 090.00 per year
Termly (2 % discount allowed) = N$7252.00 per term
⦁ Grade 1 to Grade 11
N$3250.00 per month x 12 months = N$39 000 per year
Annual (5% discount allowed) = N$37050.00 per year
Termly (2 % discount allowed) = N$12 740.00 per term
⦁ Grade 12
N$3 900.00 per month x 10 months = N$39 000.00 per year
Annual (5% discount allowed) = N$37 050.00 per year
Termly (2 % discount allowed) = N$12 740 per term
A discount of 5% is offered for full upfront payments (payment must be received by the 28th of February)
A discount of 2% is offered for three equal payments (by first day of each trimester).
A discount of 10% is offered on the third child (and further siblings) in a family attending our school – the first two children pay full fee.
E. METHODS OF PAYMENT:
⦁ by debit order, the first installment payable on 1st of January; (debit order form attached)
⦁ by electronic payments to be paid by no later than the 1st day of each month, commencing 1 January; (Please provide proof thereof)
⦁ annually, before the 28th of February or three equal term payment by the first day of each term;

3. DEFAULTING ON PAYMENTS:
For reasons of equity and to limit the administrative burden, learners will not be admitted to school if and when:
unpaid accounts from the preceding year in respect of any school fees, have not been settled in full by the end of the academic year,
unpaid fees for the term is not paid by the start of the new term, or
payment of the annual book fee is not received upon acceptance.
A. INTEREST AND OVERDUE ACCOUNTS:
Interest of 2.5% will be charged on all accounts older than 30 days (one month in arrears)
Learners, whose school fees are unpaid (30 days), will not be permitted to attend classes nor participate in any school sport/cultural and/or other activity, until the payment of school fees is up to date. Should outstanding fees not be paid within fourteen days of the date of default, a breach of the terms of admission will be declared and the learner/s will not be allowed to return to the school.
Accounts older than 90 days (three months in arrears) will be handed to our attorneys for collection. Such parent(s) and or guardian(s) shall be responsible for all attorney- and other costs incurred in collecting the outstanding amount.
Grade 12 Learners:
NB. Parents of Grade 12 learners – please note this special payment condition:
ALL fees must have been paid up to date by the time that the Matric farewell function takes place; Learners will not be permitted to take part in any function(s) as long as fees are in arrears. School fees for the entire final year need to be paid in full by the 1st of October of any subsequent calendar year.
The Board of Directors reserves the right to amend any of the above rulings without prior notice. Unless stated otherwise, amendments to any rules will apply with immediate effect.
Extra Costs to consider at Walvis Bay Private High School
Field Trips: Field trips are Curriculum driven. Learners learn a great deal through practical experiences. These field trips vary in cost, ranging from N$10 – N$100 per outing, dependent on entrance fee. The traveling cost is included in the school fees.
Grade Camps: All Grade 6 and Grade 11 learners as well as the prefects experience an outdoor education experience. The Camps vary in duration and cost depending on the venue and the length of time.
Musicals, Concerts and Valentines dance: This is not a compulsory event, but entrance fee will be charged and varies from N$30 – N$150
School Sport Participation: All sport codes ages U/7 – U/18’s take part in the National School Sport League matches and may travel to other parts of Namibia. The traveling cost is included in the school fees, but accommodation and food will be for the parents account.
Grade 12 Exam Fees: This fee is determined by the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture and payable yearly upon registration for external examination in March.
School fees cover the extremely high running cost of a high performing school. Fundraising is part of the school, therefore we have created fundraising events to fund all the other school projects not covered by school fees.
Cake/Food Sales take place throughout the year. Each class has an opportunity and they are required to supply cakes/food (or a donation). The price of the cakes/food on sale vary from N$5 to N$20. The money made at these sales is allocated to the class funds for the purchasing of extra ordinary class equipment, games and aids.
Primary Phase Fun Day: Grade 1 – 7 learners will participate in a fun day (September/October) In order to raise funds for a specific Primary School project each learner receives a donation form. This is voluntarily.
